ReplyDeleteThis Book reminds me of all the storys my mom told me about her first time coming to america from puerto rico she had no not so many friends like her she didnt speak well english its weird RIGHT!!!
Sam/4th/Sterling park/casselberry fl Year of the dog was a very good and fun to read.I loved when her mom told the story of her falling asleep in school.I would recamend this book to anyone.

ReplyDeleteI love this book. I think that when they said Pacy and Melondy are going to be lucky in the Year of the Dog they were right I mean Pacy won the contest out of like 9680564 people. That is lucky. I would never win even if I just took a book and wrote it over again!
Josh/4th/sterling park Elem. The Year of The Dog is a great book in so many ways. It has a lot of good humor, and it .....is just a great book, I can't think of a way to expain it. I would reccomend this book to anyone that likes to read.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe how funny this book was! I didn't expect it to have pictures, because only ONE of the Sunshine State Books I've read this year has pictures-and this book makes two! The plot is perfect, the characters are hilarious, the illustrations are amazing, and Grace is a wonderful story-teller. Grace and Melody have a very unique friendship, because even though they're both Chinese, they're families are completely different. For instance, Melody's mother cooks healthy Chinese food, while Grace's mother cooks it the traditional way. I loved the part when Grace first ate healthy Chinese food, and she asked Melody, "Is this really Chinese food?" I laughed so hard then.
I'm really really happy I read "The Year of the Dog". I think it will be one of the books I'll recommend to anybody. I give it five stars, six if possible. And I'll be looking for "The Year of the Rat", the sequel to this book! I'm going to read it for sure.
"The Year of the Dog" is going to be the Sunshine State Book that I vote for at the end of the year. Unless I read another, better Sunshine State Book . . .

ReplyDeleteWhy you shouls read this book is that it is a easy book to read. Why I likes this book was that was traditional thing.It also talks about what each year stands for. It also tells you that you need to have courage in yourself. What happened in this book might happen to you. The other thing is that it would have this little story inside of it also gives you a good back story on it. If you liked Emily and the Incredible shrinking rat you woul love The Year of the Dog. It took me only 2 days to read this like Emily and the Encredible shrinking rat. Plus it is a easy book.
