The purpose of this blog is to encourage the students, teachers and parents of Sterling Park Elementary to read the Sunshine State Young Readers Award nominees for 2009-2010. I hope it also encourages students to share their opinions and recommendations in writing with all our followers.

ReplyDeleteI liked this book because it has a wonderful plot. The characters have a great sense of humor, and they’re all so original in their own way. The flow of the book is so smooth that everything kind of fits together, and you either know exactly what’s going to happen, or you have no clue whatsoever. It kept me on my toes! This book gives you a loose idea what’s going on--some parts of it--but most of the time, you have to guess for yourself. The talking animals were great, because you’ll always be able to know what’s going on inside their heads. I especially liked the Rat because of his funny, superior attitude.
I have also read Stuart Little, in which there were also talking animals. I liked Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat much better. I can definitely see why Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat was voted as a Sunshine State Book. I enjoyed this book very much, and I hope to be able to read more books by Lynne Jonell!

ReplyDeleteWhy I love this book is that you can understand what the rats are saying. My favorite part is when Ms.Barmy turned into a rat and she said that she should had got the money and when the proffesser said she has to get love to turn back into a human. Why another person should read this book is the author really puts a picture in your head you can also picture what the characters are thinking and picturing in their head. You can really relax in this book and it is not like other animal talking book it also has magic that the rats have. It is the best book ever. Everyone should read this book.
omg thyis book was so sad and funny but my favorite part was when he his dad felt his lump on his ribs

ReplyDeleteI love this book!!I really liked reading it!!!!!!!!It's really good!!!I didn't have a favorite part because it was all so good!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed reading this book for the book talk. I've read several other books with talking animals in them including Stuart Little, all of the Ralph books by Beverly Cleary, Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH, etc.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite character in this book is Ratson. I enjoyed the scenes when they went into the underground city the most and the description of them playing the game that was like soccer.
Overall it was a great book that had humor, mystery and some great characters. Definitely worth reading.
