The purpose of this blog is to encourage the students, teachers and parents of Sterling Park Elementary to read the Sunshine State Young Readers Award nominees for 2009-2010. I hope it also encourages students to share their opinions and recommendations in writing with all our followers.

ReplyDeleteThis is an enjoyable book to read. I like idea of the main characters traveling around in an R.V. together and getting on each others nerves. This reminds me of sharing a road trip with my own family and we never drive more than 6 hours. I could not imagine spending weeks in such close quarters with my brother! Especially if my brother was as rambunctious as the little brother, Gee, in this book. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good book with humor and a little adventure.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Middle of Somewhere. My family never took long trips in an R.V., but I do remember driving hours to get to my Gram’s house. My brothers and I would fight for the “good” spots in the car. My youngest brother and I always ended up in the very back seat fighting over space. I don’t know if I could have survived a car trip with Gee, the little brother, in this book.
I think my favorite part was when Ronnie challenged her Grandpa to a game of poker. If she won, Gee was allowed to keep his dog. I really felt nervous for Ronnie.
This was a wonderful book. If you like to read about traveling and new adventures, I think this is the book for you.

ReplyDeleteI can relate to "The Middle of Somewhere" in many ways, especially when it comes to the traveling. The book was full of twists and turns, kind of like the road Ronnie, Gee, and their grandpa took. My favorite part was when Gee was in the cannon and Pop climbed up and saved him. I felt really scared and nervous during that part. This book made me happy in some parts, sad in the others, and anxious all around. I like books like that, so this was perfect for me!
I'm like Ronnie in a lot of ways, because she likes adventure, and so do I, and Gee is very similar to my sisters. He is my favorite character! I laughed out loud at the funny things he did.
If you're looking for a book that's full of adventure, excitement, and winding corners, look no further. This is definitely the book for you. I can absolutely see why "The Middle of Somewhere" was voted a Sunshine State Book". Go J.B. Cheaney!

ReplyDeleteWhy I like "The Midde of Somewhere" is that I can really see thst someone has a little brother like Gee. I though can't see a little brother going off with a stranger probbaly it happened. Why someone else should read this book is that it that is kinda like "The Lemonade War" for some reason you actually picture this happening in your head. If J.B Cheaney's goal was to give a real family thing I think the author reached the goal. This book should be a Sunshine State Book. J.B Cheaney should be proud!
